coronavirus

Dear UAA- DFW family,

First and foremost, I hope you and your families are safe and well. The last few weeks have been unprecedented for all of us, to say the least.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our frontline health care workers, you are all the true heroes in this crisis and we thank you for your service to humanity during this Corona Virus pandemic

We are in an unchartered, unpredictable, and highly volatile global situation; a crisis that is impacting every single person and every single business and it’s quite alarming. Because of this, all events that were planned this year have been placed on hold until further notice.

As leadership, we know that this crisis has left many without jobs and thus putting our members in a financial bind. Knowing that it’s difficult for the association to help our community financially, the leadership team has been searching for resources that might be beneficial to some of our members.  There are resources available in different counties and cities to help during this crisis and we encourage our members to take advantage of them.

Here are a few of them:

  • http://211.org/- You can either call 211 or go their website and it will prompt you to enter your zip code, it will then give you a number to call in your area to a place offering assistance.

–         Metrocrest Services (www.metrocrestservices.org) is a company that serves people living Carrolton, Coppell, Addison, Farmers Branch and the city of Dallas in Denton County. Phone number is 972-446-2100

–         Grace Emergency Assistance – www.gracegrapevine.org  Phone number is 8174887009.

There are many churches giving out groceries as well so please be on the lookout. To Parents with school children, please check with the schools as many of them are still providing meals to students.

It was also brought to our attention that there are many members of our community like elders, single mothers and some who are sick that are not able to make it to grocery stores and wish they had someone to send. A few members of the leadership team have volunteered to help. You can reach out to Lambert Etibot (2149986211, Cyrus Mukisa (6823133677) and Ramathan Juuko( 469773.764).

We encourage our members to continue following CDC and state guidelines of social distancing to reduce the spread of the virus, and also to make sure you get tested if you think you have been exposed. There are a few locations in the metroplex providing drive through tests. For locations please visit https://dshs.texas.gov/coronavirus/testing.aspx

The leadership team continues to work tirelessly in efforts to help our community members and will be reaching out to members via phone in the coming days to check in and see how the Association can help.

Yours faithfully,

Florence Bazanye
